Elliot started going to daycare at the end of August 2012. He was just about a year old when he began. He loves to eat pretty much anything, but especially anything that looks like adult food. One of his favorite dishes is spicy curry. He is also a huge fan of just about any fruit. But his favorite food is black beans in any shape or form.
My husband and I both work, so we pack Elliot's lunch in the evenings before we go to bed. Then we pour his milk for the day before we leave the house in the morning. I try to cook meals during the week that can be adapted for lunches. It cuts down on thinking about how to get all the different vegetables, etc. that the little guy (and us!) should be eating.
Some of my favorite childhood memories revolve around the awesome food my mum cooked for us and the cool lunches she packed for school. I doubt that I'll be baking bread in the shapes of animals in the near future, but I'll try to pack nutritious foods that my son loves and that won't take away too much of our precious family time in the evenings.

Thinking about lunches
Today, Elliot had a mango/sweet potato/millet smoothie pouch, three slices of deli turkey, half a peach, an apple/cinnamon rice cake, hummus, cheddar cheese, and wheat bunnies. He also took 10 ounces of milk.
For tomorrow, he has a blueberry/oat/quinoa pouch, a tomato, a black bean burger, wheat bunnies, and a banana. He'll take 10 ounces of milk as well.
